Hydrogen is produced from sodium borohydride and water contained in a cartridge and then used in a PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) fuel cell to produce electricity for FELIN military equipment (average power of 12W)

The major interest of fuel cell for the army is its weight: it's much lighter than traditionnal batteries. For an equivalent weight, a fuel cell will deliver 1000times more energy than a lead acid battery and 200 times more compare to Li-Ion battery.
